Responsible for performing tests and reporting results of requested Laboratory procedures and providing physicians with accurate and timely results to aid them in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Provides technical expertise in chemistry and urinalysis; assists the Chemistry Technical Manager in the oversight of proficiency testing, quality control, quality assurance and compliance; maintenance of state of the art procedures and equipment; daily monitoring of lab results, and clinical correlation of results. Provides technical guidance to Medical Technologists working in chemistry and urinalysis, regarding abnormal and/or critical patient results, quality control problems, technical procedures and equipment issues/problems.
Education Required Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related science required.
License/Certification Required Medical technology or related science ASCP or NCA specialist certification required.
License/Certification Preferred ASCP Specialty Certification in Chemistry is preferred.
Special Skills Required Strong technical and problem-solving skills required. Demonstrates independent judgment, demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills, requires coordination and good manual dexterity skills, demonstrates initiative, possesses ability to work under stress, and demonstrates ability to organize.
Experience Required 6 or more years clinical laboratory experience with at least 4 years clinical chemistry experience.
