The Underwriter position is responsible for underwriting, structuring and credit analysis of all types of commercial commercial and consumer loans in accordance with the Bank's credit policies and procedures. The Underwriter shall prepare accurate, objective and cogent credit write-ups based upon in-depth analysis of financial data within established time frames. Other responsibilities include: Assist Department Manager and Relationship Managers in presenting potential credit to appropriate loan committee Make joint calls with the RMs to assist in assessing capabilities of management, review and collateral support and facilities Provide in-depth analysis of historical financial statements, cash flow and debt service requirements and business plans/projections Manage list of small loan relationships and assist Department Manager in managing credit/deposit relationships assigned to Underwriting Group
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field. Minimum of three years of previous experience in commercial bank underwriting or lending is required. Experience with commercial loans preferred. Thorough knowledge in review, analysis, and underwriting of commercial loans and personal/corporate financial statements, pertaining to Sponsors/Guarantors. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and complete credit evaluations. Solid understanding of financial statements and tax returns, including General Accepted Accounting Practices. Experience with completing spreads and written credit analysis reports on borrowers and guarantors. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to seek and gather information from multiple sources, and manage multiple tasks. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Moody’s Risk Analyst and CashTax (or comparable analytical software).
