The Senior Underwriter position is responsible for underwriting, structuring and credit analysis of complex commercial loan portfolio. Other responsibilities include: Work closely with commercial officers in completing reports for senior management for loan origination and portfolio monitoring. Perform analysis of business entities and individuals to assess financial performance and condition, trends, key drivers, projections, and risks, with a focus on their ability to service debt. Produce a variety of summary analysis and monitoring reports, operating performance and projection analysis. Complete various forms and reports to request external reports (appraisals and environmental reports). Contact bank customers to gather information and/or follow up on required items. Handle various other underwriting, closing and portfolio management and upkeep tasks and responsibilities. Special projects from loan officers and senior management.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field. Minimum of five years of previous experience in commercial bank underwriting or lending is required. Experience with commercial loans preferred. Thorough knowledge in review, analysis, and underwriting of commercial loans and personal/corporate financial statements, pertaining to Sponsors/Guarantors. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and complete credit evaluations. Solid understanding of financial statements and tax returns, including General Accepted Accounting Practices. Experience with completing spreads and written credit analysis reports on borrowers and guarantors. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to seek and gather information from multiple sources, and manage multiple tasks. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Moody’s Risk Analyst and CashTax (or comparable analytical software).
