The Investment Consultant ("IC") is responsible for establishing, building and maintaining rapport and trust with clients and prospects. The primary responsibility of the IC is business development, winning new asset management relationships, signing up new asset management accounts, and building SVB’s off balance sheet assets. It is expected that the Investment Consultant will be the first or second call for the client on ANY investment issue (reports, performance, strategy, governance, etc.) Also, establishes and maintains strong relationships with the Bank's Commercial Bank Managers. Here, the IC should be seen as a relationship enhancer; the person they want involved in their highest profile, most complex situations; a source of advice for the relationship managers on a wide variety of investment and economic issues. The IC must maintain a continuous and thorough understanding of the Capital Markets with particular emphasis on fixed income securities.Skills and Requirements:Skills and Requirements:
Candidate possesses a deep understanding of the economy and world events that impact the fixed income market daily. Has an in-depth knowledge of various security types, their relative pricing and trading ranges and of the US securities markets. Has a complete understanding of specific client corporate finance issues including cash flow and financing objectives. Has an ability to identify appropriate fixed income strategies to match client objectives, and has outstanding organizational and communication skills to deliver investment recommendations for bank clients and prospects. Employs an assertive, consultative sales approach with the ability to close a deal while managing successful client relationships.
5+ years of investment industry experience in a sales or client service role.
Prior experience working in an RIA environment, preferably in Fixed Income.
A commitment to bringing success to the organization and self in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
BA/BS or equivalent related experience. MBA preferred.
