Director, Strategic Analytics

The Director of Strategic Analytics is responsible for providing world-class AML analytical and reporting support & expertise to Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM). This includes providing leadership and direction for the current state of AML monitoring and detection, analytics, reporting, and tools/systems related to mitigating AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering/ Counter-Terrorism Financing) risks. The successful candidate will have particular expertise and track record in quantitative analyses related to FCRM globally, strong knowledge of BSA regulations, and exceptional leadership and influencing skills. Additionally, the candidate must have successfully led an AML analytics team through numerous regulatory examinations, audits, Model Risk Management requirements, robust investigative feedback loops in advancing the transaction monitoring Models and scenarios, and challenged teams with creative approaches to solving complex problems in close partnership with IT teams.

We are seeking an AML analytics leader who will oversee the development of the team and the evolution of the AML transaction monitoring strategy and approaches (account, customer/client, 3rd party, social network/link analysis, levels), in an effort to maximize effectiveness, while remaining compliant with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. The expectation is that the role will play a pivotal role in advancing the portfolio of AML detection strategies in a balanced/risk-based approach of scenarios and Models and the development and maintenance of a reporting/BI suite. Additionally, the role will include the implementation of a rapid response data architecture to fully and timely answer questions and deliver requested documents/ information to both internal and external auditors, as well as regulatory examiners as it pertains to BSA/AML.

Job Requirements

•Ensures consistent execution of AML detection scenarios and Models, and the development and implementation of future data and analytics capabilities
•Provides strategic and tactical direction to teams which monitor and analyze trends, patterns, and external factors at the account, customer/client, and social network levels
•Build predictive scoring Models, where appropriate
•Communicates and collaborates effectively with leadership teams to achieve business deliverables
•Provides actionable intelligence to support fact-based decisions
•Compile findings in a format that can be socialized with team members, stakeholders and/or senior management
•Build/maintain a data acquisition approach and data repository that has the appropriate analytical tools to support financial crimes analytics
•Perform data analytics to identify and define new patterns and key indicators of financial crimes
•Drive improvements to the reporting process to ensure accuracy and improve efficiency
•Present to various LOBs and senior management on Key Performance Indicators, Risk Appetites, and financial crime trends
•Proven track record in Model Risk Management compliance
•Experience with significant migration efforts of AML transaction monitoring systems and strategies, while maintaining continuous AML monitoring of customers, accounts, and transactions


Skills and Requirements:
• 7 or more years of financial crimes experience (prevention, detection, financial crimes modeling, rules management or other related discipline) developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrixed environment required
• 4 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required
•Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
