Enterprise Data Warehouse Engineer II
Location: SANTA CLARA, California

The Enterprise Data Warehouse team at Silicon Valley Bank is responsible for delivering data solutions that support all lines of business across the organization. This includes providing data integration services for all batch data movement; managing and enhancing the current data warehouse and dependent data marts; and providing support for analytics and business intelligence consumers.

This is a unique career opportunity for a senior data warehouse engineer .As a Data Warehouse engineer, you ?will have the opportunity to:?

-Collaborate with your Data Warehousing peers , leads and other stakeholders to further expand and develop the Enterprise Data Warehouse platform

-Ensure that new solutions meet defined technical, functional, and service level ?requirements and standards

-Manage the end-to-end lifecycle for new data migration, data integration, and data services oriented solutions

-Engage with partners in testing, release management, and operations to ensure quality of code development, deployment and post-production support

-Lead all aspects of software or product vendor implementations as needed to deploy solutions that integrate with SVB systems and / or processes

-Mentor and provide direction to offshore partners on larger scale projects where you will act as technical lead for the organization

Skills and Requirements:
Solution Design and Leadership:

•Lead all phases in the solution lifecycle, including architecture review, design review, code development, and deployment
•Analyze design specifications, documentation, and requirements surrounding the EDW ?technology components
•Create high-level designs based on an understanding of the functional needs of projects or internal business clients
•Ensure design of new solutions leverages existing software components where feasible
•Design and build software components in accordance with the relevant requirements, system and ?software architectures, design, and coding standards

Development activities:

•Generate SQL DDLs and physical tables for the purpose of loading target data stores
•Develop ETL packages to extract, transform and load source to target stores
•Define and implement scheduling of jobs

Testing and Support:

•Write and perform unit testing of software components and integration programs
•Execute unit tests to ensure that the software complies to functional requirements
•Tune for performance ETL packages and target data stores based on expected use
•Proactively identify and remediate coding defects
•Identify and mitigate potential issues and risk associated with development activities
•Establish and maintain software and document change management policies and procedures

Core Technical Requirements of the role:

•Strong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and implementation experience is a must
•Minimum 7 years of Business Objects Data Services or equivalent ETL tool (Informatica /DataStage /AbInitio) experience
•Minimum 7 years of combined ETL, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Big Data or related DW BI experience
•Hands on knowledge and understanding of architecture, requirement analysis, applications systems design and integration with detailed understanding of applicable programming methodologies.
•Additional experience in SQL, Unix and/or Linux with shell scripting experience
•Proven ability to do data management activities, such as data profiling, data modeling, and metadata management a plus
•Experience implementing SaaS solutions, including data interfaces is a plus
•Hands-on experience with utilizing or managing job scheduling tools such as Redwood Cronacle
•Having financial domain experience especially related to credit domain and allowance for loan losses and recovery would be a big plus
