Sanctions Systems Configuration Manager
Location: SANTA CLARA, California

This position on the Global Sanctions Compliance team will be responsible for managing all aspects of sanctions system configuration and performance to help ensure that Silicon Valley Bank Financial Group (SVBFG) remains in compliance with all sanctions requirements to which it is subject.

Responsibilities include:
•Monitoring completeness of data feeds into screening systems
•Periodic testing of screening system configuration
•Ongoing tuning of screening systems to maintain appropriate efficiency and effectiveness, including rule writing and white list additions
•List management of vendor-provided and internal propriety lists used for sanctions screening
•Assistance for overseas branches and subsidiaries with configuration and performance of screening systems to adequately address sanctions risk faced by different legal vehicles in non-U.S. jurisdictions
•Partnering with IT on system selections, major system upgrades, new system implementation, and any initiatives impacting sanctions compliance

This role will evaluate current-state areas of opportunity to improve SVBFG’s screening processes and systems as well as identify ways to move toward a more streamlined, sustainable and scalable future-state screening model.

Partnering with IT, this position will be responsible for the evaluation and alignment of current and future Sanctions vendor agreements and will coordinate vendor oversight for sanctions screening systems, testing and list provision.

The position will interact with stakeholders across the organization such as client teams, IT, Internal Audit, Operations, Compliance and senior executives related to sanctions screening requirements and execution.

Must interact with varying levels of individuals across the enterprise (with particular attention paid to U.S., U.K., and China) up to and including senior leadership and regulators related to sanctions system approvals, implementation, and performance.

By leveraging prior experience and knowledge of industry best practices for sanctions screening, this position will be relied upon to make risk-based decisions related to appropriate configuration and tuning of sanctions screening systems, including applying consistent configuration approaches across screening systems, analyzing alert data to determine appropriate tuning rules to write, and proactively identifying any gaps in screening controls or areas where improvement is needed to better meet industry benchmarks.

Skills and Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Compliance Management, Business, or other related field of study is required. Master’s degree preferred.
•Minimum 7+ years of experience working in financial crimes with financial institutions and 5+ years of working in sanctions and AML compliance with a focus on screening systems.
