The Compliance Director is a senior position in the Corporate Compliance Department reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer. The Corporate Compliance Department is responsible for managing SVBFG’s compliance risk management program which provides an enterprise-wide framework for identifying, assessing, controlling, measuring, monitoring, and reporting compliance risks and providing compliance training. The Compliance Director is specifically responsible for advising business leaders on regulatory requirements, emerging regulatory risks and on regulatory considerations with respect to the design, marketing and delivery of products and services to the assigned business units and on the development of new businesses and strategies. Further, the Compliance Director participates with members of the Corporate Compliance Department to produce and update an enterprise-wide Compliance Risk Assessment and he or she monitors, evaluates and reports on proposed regulatory changes potentially effecting SVBFG and its business units. These include but are not limited to credit administration, commercial lending, deposits, cash management, FX, trade finance and other products and services.
Roles / Responsibilities
1.Provide subject matter expertise with regard to relevant laws and regulation and their impact on operations, services, and products of Silicon Valley Bank, including the development and implementation of industry leading solutions
2.Oversee and approve new training material that has been developed surrounding regulatory changes, risk assessments and new products and services for the assigned business units
3.Approve revisions to documents, policies and procedures, as needed
4.Partner with Compliance Monitoring to help develop testing programs that address regulatory exam findings, internal audit findings and gaps to help reduce compliance risk across the organization
5.Help identify and develop projects/initiatives which promote efficiencies and/or stronger control environments
6.Provide subject matter expertise to ensure Compliance with Asset based lending, Leveraged Lending, loans to affiliates and insiders, Credit Risk Ratings, Lending Limits, Tying-Arrangements among other applicable rules and regulations.
7.Develop, plan and perform compliance reviews that independently evaluate the adequacy, comprehensiveness and effectiveness of Business Unit compliance quality assurance and testing functions
8.Identify root cause of any systemic breakdowns and recommend corrective action to stakeholders
9.Ensure deficiencies have been promptly addressed and effectively resolved
10.Report Enterprise Compliance matters to Chief Compliance Officer, Senior Management and Compliance Committee
11.Provide subject matter expertise with regard to relevant disclosure requirements
12.Review and approve marketing materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
13.Approve annual training relevant to the assigned business areas
14.Develop policies and procedures related to compliance with applicable regulations
15.Assess applicability of regulatory changes including proposed changes and their applicability to the assigned business areas.
16.Coordinate with assigned business areas the implementation of regulatory changes
Due to the fast paced nature of the regulatory and business environments, the position requires the ability to quickly adapt to change and to multi-task various assignments. The individual must be able to provide compliance guidance that balances both regulatory requirements while meeting business objectives. The individual will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Skills and Requirements:Skills/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and CRCM certification preferred. 5-7 years of recent regulatory compliance experience in the banking or financial services in the areas of commercial lending, deposit cash management and other applicable products and services.
Highly knowledgeable in FRB and Department of Business Oversight rules and regulations and regulations promulgated by all applicable regulatory agencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, auditors, and regulatory examiners. Proficient in Microsoft® Office programs including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
