About the Position: 

The Global Product Management team is looking for a Sr. Program Manager to help deliver large, complex projects within a variety of business engagements and support groups in an agile or waterfall environment.  As the Program Manager for Sungard Availability Services, you have the responsibility of the successful planning, directing, and executing the programs to ensure program goals, objectives and most of all, business value is achieved within approved timeframe.

Manage and monitor programs to support company initiatives. Maintain relationship with internal and external customers. Expert in creating, tracking and managing program plans, identifying inherent risk for successful completion, communicating project status, milestones and deliverables to the stakeholders.  The position will focus on delivery of key strategic programs in order for the business to meet strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and enable the Global Team to effectively deliver large Sungard Availability Services projects and programs.
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables, goals, and milestones within the agile methodology structure.
  • Largely Self-directed, seek for direction and advice when unsure. Present several solution options and articulate their differences.
  • Demonstrate leadership to identify and define project risks, clearly track and communicate risks to all parts of the organization as needed and directed, including up through senior leadership.
  • Document and track all elements of a project in an organized, streamlined fashion for the team project.
  • Develop management reports/ dashboards for projects and present to key groups.
  • Help bridge product requirements to development & engineering plans following our Lifecycle) process.  Ability to build consensus around recommendations and gain alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Plans and executes projects with a high level of complexity and uncertainty including managing project scope, requirements changes, multiple and competing demands and priorities as well as determining and conveying impact on budget, time and risk using appropriate fact-based metrics / assumptions.
  • Work with Business/Technology Owners to ensure that deliverables achieve required business results, communicating appropriately with stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Develop integrated project plans applying estimation models; document assumptions, refine plans and manage performance against them.
  • Determines quality standards and oversees the execution / production of all necessary collateral.
  • Raise and track issues and conflicts, remove barriers, resolve project issues and escalate to higher levels of management as required.
  • Identifies and manages project costs and budgets anticipating operational and tactical risks as well as issues.
  • Seeks out industry trends and organizational knowledge to understand alternative approaches and/or solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures and mentors team members in their development and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience in a program manager role.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of program assignment.
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience in a program manager role.
  • PMP certification a plus.
  • Proven experience in building presentation and communicating program status.
  • Proven experience leading and directing technical staff through crisis situations.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Jira and Aha tools a plus.
