Opportunity:

The Global IT team is looking for a Project Manager to help deliver large, complex projects within a variety of business engagements and support groups in an agile environment.   This leadership position may need to manage the demand for IT services, portfolio governance processes, and oversight and communication of the IT portfolio.  The position may also focus on delivery of key strategic projects for the business to meet key goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Use your project management experience to enable the Global IT Team to effectively deliver large Sungard Availability Services platform projects and services to market.
  • Use your portfolio management skills to manage the demand of projects on the teams and to help leadership with the prioritization of projects for execution.  Provide transparency to the organization by keeping status on the portfolio of projects accurate.
  • Work with functional teams within an Agile environment to establish clear project scope and manage implementations to ensure on-time delivery that delivers consistent value to our business partners
  • Manage complex software development and infrastructure projects from design and development to production/transition to support.  Deliver value to the business from projects
  • Help bridge product requirements to development & engineering plans following our NPD (New Product Development) process.  Ability to build consensus around recommendations and gain alignment across all stakeholders
  • Define resources and gain their assignment for scheduled project implementation
  • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.  Serve as a point of escalation for risks and issues.
  • Plan and schedule project deliverables, goals, and milestones within the Agile methodology structure.
  • Demonstrate leadership to identify and define project risks, clearly track and communicate risks to all parts of the organization as needed and directed, including up through senior leadership
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate regular status meetings with both project teams and leadership
  • Document and track all elements of a project in an organized, streamlined fashion for the team project
  • Maintain project artifacts by ensuring all information/documentation is stored in central repository and client folders are up to date and contain correct data
  • Manage the prioritization of projects based on order of importance, then followed by available budget
  • Develop management reports/ dashboards for projects and present to key groups
  • Owns and manages delivery according to planned schedule or one or more high risk and complex projects.
  • Optimization of schedule, resources and budget to manage tradeoffs.
  • Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of project assignment.
  • May provide guidance to lower level team members and mentor them on priority setting but no formal supervisory responsibility.
  • Builds strong business relationships
  • Presents project status to Senior Project stakeholders and is responsible for project dashboards.  Proactively communicates any risks and risk plans
  • Understands scope of influence and when to engage management support. 
  • Serves as a mentor to developing PMs by participating in project meetings and providing feedback and coaching.

Requirements:

  • 5 - 7 years hands on project management experience leading multiple projects (3-5 projects of substantial complexity and duration) simultaneously through the Project Life Cycle.  Experience working within an Agile environment highly preferred
  • 3-5 years project estimation, budgeting and scheduling experience with development projects
  • Experience working with very senior executives to develop, track and monitor the long-term IT Portfolio Road map
  • Expert knowledge of project management with strong time management skills, PMP certification, delivering SaaS applications highly desired
  • Self-starter having a history of initiating, leading and completing quality improvement projects
  • Must have the ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as independently or as an individual contributor
  • Extensive project management and knowledge of software development, virtualization, data communication and networking concepts and technologies
  • Knowledge of different development methodologies necessary, including Waterfall and Agile related methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, TDD, LeSS, SAFe)
  • Very strong customer service, interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written)
  • Proven experience leading and directing technical staff through crisis situations
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies
  • Proven ability to improve operational efficiency by driving standardization and automation
  • Ability to prioritize and work on competing and/or conflicting tasks simultaneously
  • Solid presentation and negotiation skills

Preferred Qualities:

  • Experience working on portfolio management tools (demand and resource management) and working in a PMO department
  • Expert Excel skills including advanced formula creation and pivot table creation
  • Expert Jira skills including filter creation, board creation, dashboard creation and query (JQL) capabilities
  • Expert SharePoint skills including list/library creation, page creation and workflow creation (Designer or Flow)
  • Any of the following certifications are desired: PMP®, PMI-ACP®, CSP®, CSM®, CSPO®, CLP®, SPC®, SA®
